Hi, I just joint this community. I have been practising taiji for 10 years. Mainly yang style with Sam Masich as my teacher. I also train in push hands and sword, the double edged blade. Would love to hear from those who are training in taiji, particularly the ones in Canada.

I've just read your entry. First of all congratulations on sticking with taiji for a decade, that's real commitment. I'm a five-year practitioner of the yang style in England and am just about to start teaching beginners. As you can imagine I'm very nervous about this as it's a totally new venture.
Do you instruct yourself?
Which forms have you mastered so far, 24? 48?
All the best with your practise.
Hi, I learned the Yang 24, 88 and 108, as well as Cheng Ming Chang's 37 short form. In my practice, I use sections of 108 to work on postures, rooting, balance, the different energies etc. I also practise the taiji sword.
What forms do you do? Any weapons?
I had taught private lessons and classes in the community centres. I enjoyed teaching seniors. They were great, no egos, no dreams of becoming the next Jet Li!
I wish you well in your new venture. I found that teaching helped me to understand what I was doing, and articulated the principles. I actually got deeper into my taiji through teaching. Love to hear your stories from the classroom.
Hi, just checking in...Are you still teaching and practising taiji?
I am still practising...with systematic structures to improving my taiji sword. What about you?

Re: Doing Yang
I'm studying push hands with Jim Madras (student of Sam) in Eugene, OR.
Background in Guang Ping Tai Chi with Kuo Lien Ying/ Sun style Xing Yi with Wong Jack Man. Most of my primary study was in the 70's and 80's. I'd like to exchange info with you... if you're interested.
Yes I have heard alot about that group in Eugene, OR; from Sam. Are you a member of the Circle of Friends with Jan Parker? I believe that group includes Jim Madras.
I will be doing two workshops with Sam this October in Ontario Canada on the 25 energies that he has been teaching in BC and Ontario. Quite looking forward to seeing Sam again.
Yes, I would be interested in chatting about taiji...love taiji!
P.S. The current profile pic is my good friend who passed away last September.
